The January travel sales have begun – but are they any good?

Our top picks of the Boxing Day sales, turbo charge your 2025 holiday days to get extended breaks from work and discover our top destinations for the year ahead!

Your must read travel round up🌍

I hope you had a lovely Christmas if you were celebrating and whether you’re still chilling at home or back at work (perhaps you didn’t even stop!), we’re all getting to that time of the year where the thought of a holiday seems like a really good idea. So it’s the perfect time for a sale, right?!

Well… in searching around for the best Boxing Day and January Sales travel deals I think it’s fair to say that Black Friday has fully taken over as the ‘big’ travel sale of the year. It’s not to say there aren’t still deals there are! But it feels a bit more laidback than the offers coming out left, right and centre back in November. So that’s definitely something to keep in mind for 2025.

Hopefully some more deals will kick in at the start of January, so I’ll be keeping my eyes out and updating our lists…

Here’s what to expect in this newsletter:

  • The best of the January sales 💸

  • The best Amazon travel deals in the sales 🎒

  • My deal of the week – it’s where I’ve been staying this week! 🏰

Right – let’s get into it!

Top 2025 Destinations

From short haul spots to epic trips, we’ve picked the destinations that are top of our bucket list this year.

My deal of the week

As some of you may have seen on Instagram, James and I have been away since Boxing Day in Belgium!

We do a trip like this every year where we put time aside to set our goals for the year ahead. Since that’s the purpose of the trip, what we require from the accommodation is quite specific as it needs to:

  • Have space in the room to work from

  • Have a lobby or bar space we can work from too

  • Have access to food and drink if we want to power through some work

  • Be INSPIRATIONAL (without costing a fortune!)

And it’s the last point that makes the search a little bit harder, but here’s some of the places that have fit the bill perfectly over the last few years.

Jan 2023

We opted for this gorgeous 4 star stay at Luz Charming Houses in Portugal back in 2023 when the cheapest room was £83. However, we opted for the Master Suite for £159 a night since it came with a huge area to work from and a kitchen so we could cook and save money there instead. You can see my video tour here!

Cheapest upcoming date: 26th Jan for £107 a night including breakfast

June 2022

Okay FINE, we didn’t do this work stay in January but in the summer, but it would totally work for this type of trip too. I still think it’s one of the best value holiday lets I’ve ever done and the fact it doesn’t really go up in price in the summer time is NUTS! Here’s a video tour for you.

Cheapest upcoming date: 24th - 26th Sep will cost you £182 for 2 nights - and that’s for 4 people staying!

Dec 2024

As we were heading away in between Christmas and New Year, prices were higher than the first week of Jan but I managed to score this stay in a CASTLE.

Now let me tell you, this place is NICE. Like a genuine 5 star luxury experience. We nabbed their Suite for £194 a night. It was GREAT and gin and snacks from the supermarket down the road helped keep costs down.

Cheapest upcoming date: 20th Feb will cost you £112 for a Comfort Room and £182 for a Junior Suite when you book direct.

New YouTube video - Swedish Lapland Sleeper Train!

Now if you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know I did this trip last year and whilst I got out all the shorter videos, I had this long video just sat waiting to be finished - and here it is!!

The info has been updated to reflect the latest prices and… the latest changes. You’ll understand what I mean when you watch the video 😭

You can also catch up on the original stories from the trip over on my Instagram though highlight 1, highlight 2 and highlight 3.

And that’s a wrap!

A slightly shorter newsletter this week as we’re supposed to be having a bit of time off 😆 but Viral Vacay will be back in the next one!
