Your must read travel round up🚆
Hello and Merry Christmas from the Cheap Holiday Expert Grotto!
We have very exciting news – we have a new logo and website!!! And whilst we’re still tweaking away, we thought this newsletter would be a good way for our nearest and dearest (that’s you!) to give it a little test for us 😆
Also new is that you might have seen a new YouTube video pop up from me this week. Yes that’s right, I’m back on YouTube!!
Me and my friend Robbie took on a challenge to visit 7 UK markets in just 1 day only using the UK rail network and well… you’ll have to watch the video to find out how we did 😭
Anyway, now I’ve recovered from that epic excursion, here’s what’s coming up in this newsletter:
Winter Sun destinations☀️
How to book an all-inclusive holiday🧳
Everything you need to know about Interrail Passes 🛤️
How to get your money back on delayed or cancelled trains💰
And all the best bits of the internet the team has been loving this week! 🤳
Right – let’s get into it!
Winter Sun holidays☀️
We’re a huge fan of a winter holiday here at Cheap Holiday Expert. Not only can you get some great deals on trips at this time of year, it’s also nice to escape the dreary weather for a bit of sunshine.

Full steam ahead 🛤️
In the last newsletter I shared that Interrail are offering 25% off most Passes in their Black Friday sale and here’s your final warning – it ends tomorrow!
If you’re new to Interrail Passes, then we’ve written up a guide on what they are and how to use them. Plus, we’ve got the lowdown on Delay Repay, a scheme offered by most train companies in Great Britain that gives you some money back if your journey is disrupted – in some cases for delays from as little as 15 minutes.

My deal of the week
Do you love a luxury hotel but don’t like to spend a fortune on it?
SAME.
Well, the good news is that coming up is one of the cheapest periods to book these type of stays: winter.
It’s because most people are - understandably - still in recovery from Christmas but if you can spare a few bob, this is a great way to stay a bit fancier than you can afford the rest of the year.
With this in mind, I’ve taken a look at our bucket list of the best hotels in the UK to see if I can spot any with a major discount coming in the next few weeks.
![]() | The Fish, England This Cotswolds retreat dips to as low as £175 a night between Jan & Feb before nipping up to £230 in the spring, and £270 in the summer! |
![]() | Palé Hall, Wales Whilst this gaff has pretty steady prices throughout the year (we love to see it!) you can score a room for £227 a night in Jan which is a decent saving compared to the peak £300+ a night. Plus, when I was logged in on Booking.com it went down to £194 so try that too! |
![]() | The Gleneagles Hotel, Scotland I know this is a proper bucket list stay - and it would have to be for the cost! But staying in Jan & Feb sees prices start from £374 a night, whilst they go up to £750 a night in the peak summer months! |
Look mum, I won an award!
Or should I say we won an award! Yep, Cheap Holiday Expert nabbed ‘Champions of Content’ at the Travolution Awards and to say I wasn’t expecting it was the understatement of the year!!!

What the team’s been loving this week!
When we haven’t been grappling with the UK rail network we’ve had time to pop onto socials! Here’s what we’ve been enjoying.
Chelsea: I’m loving my friend Jacob’s recent series where his sister has made him an advent calendar where each day, he gets a key which he has to hide somewhere new! It’s caused many a spontaneous adventure around the area he lives - my fave has been when he managed to get it on live TV!
Katie: It’s another year of feeling bad for the Trafalgar Square Christmas tree, which always looks a bit sad. You can’t beat the Rockefeller Centre tree in New York, they know what’s up! 🎄
And that’s a wrap!
That’s all for this week – thanks if you made it this far and why not let me know you did so by answering the poll below ⬇️
If you have a mate or family member who you think would love this newsletter too, they’ll just need to sign up here.
